Homevisits in the slum.

If you are driving through the neighborhood Vila Dias, and you don't know this slum, you only see one street with a lot of garbage, little houses and little bars with people who seems to have fun.
You maybe see a friendly old neighboor who is giving money for icecream to two little girls.
But a lot is hidden in this neighboorhood.

We talk later to these two little girls when they are eating from their ice-cream, and ask them if this happen often. And how important it is to be carefull, because sometimes man ask things in return what they don't like to do. One of the girls tells about what she experienced that a man asked her inside to sit with him, happily she screamed and ran away! It's a high risk of living in the slum, it's a high risk for these kids.

A women we meet outside the little bar, is a mother of six children and they are living in one room. In her house we see, a stove and the smell of food fills the place, a double bed, a closet, clothes, and it's really hot in this little room. The room is not able to give all the children a place to sleep, so two boys are sleeping in the room of the neighboor. It's a solution, but not a healthy situation! The youngest baby is staying at the house of the father. She's happy to tell that she will move to a bigger house, and we are happy with her. She invites us to visit her nex time in her new home.

It's important for us to meet this women, because we know her kids from the communitycentre. And when you see the children of the slum you can not see their story or how they live. But when we look further, when we give our time to really see! Then we can be involved in their lives, in their story. Just by listening, by seeing them and to have fellowship together and to pray for them.
